Who is Javan (Yavan)?

We read in the Book of Genesis (Bereshit) that Javan (in the original Hebrew: יון) is a son of Japheth and a grandson of Noah. (Genesis 10:1-2)

Javan is believed to be the progenitor of the Greek people, because of which the country of Greece is called Yavan (יון) in Hebrew.
